Vessel traffic through the world's most important oil chokepoint remains around 90% below pre-conflict levels, keeping crude prices, tanker markets and global supply chains under pressure.

The global oil market enters the final week of August with the Strait of Hormuz still at the center of energy-market risk. Despite months of market adjustment, alternative routing and attempts to maintain crude exports, physical traffic through the strait remains severely constrained.

According to Kpler vessel-tracking data reported by Reuters, fewer than 20 commodity vessels transited Hormuz during the weekend. Only four vessels crossed on Sunday and 13 on Saturday.

Over the week ending August 21, 89 vessels exited the strait while 103 entered, activity estimated at roughly 90% below pre-conflict levels. This is increasingly transforming the Hormuz crisis from a temporary geopolitical price shock into a structural logistics and supply-security problem.
